Welcome to Mediterranean Living: Where Food Brings Us Together
If there’s one thing I know to be true, it’s this: food has the power to connect us. It can break the ice, bridge cultures, and turn strangers into family. That belief is the soul of this blog—and the soul of my life’s work.
Meet me, GK, a Greek-American hospitality enthusiast who’s turned his passion into a purpose. I grew up in Athens, where the scent of grilled lamb, fresh herbs, and wood-fired bread is woven into the streets. It’s a city bursting with history, color, and warmth—and, in my opinion, the birthplace of hospitality. Not just because of our ancient traditions, but because of how deeply we value making others feel welcome, fed, and loved.
At 18, I left Greece for New York City, where I pursued a degree in Hospitality Management at the College of Technology. From there, I trained in everything from Food & Beverage Cost Control to Culinary Arts, and spent nearly two decades honing my craft in some of the East Coast’s most prestigious establishments—The Walt Disney Company, Morton’s Steakhouse, The Boro Hotel, Beebe’s, Avra Madison Estiatorio, and more.
But no matter how far my career took me, my mission never changed: to help people connect with one another through food.
Whether I’m hosting a dinner in Fire Island, teaching someone how to make tzatziki for the first time, or leading a culinary tour in Greece, I always come back to the same feeling—that hospitality is an act of love. And that cooking isn’t just about feeding people—it’s about sharing a part of yourself.
This blog, Mediterranean Living, is my way of sharing that part with you.
Here, you’ll find more than just recipes (though you’ll get plenty of those). You’ll find stories, traditions, and small reminders of how food can bring joy, health, and meaning to your everyday life. I’ll be sharing family recipes, cooking tips, and insights from both my Greek heritage and my New York hospitality roots.
Thank you for being here.
Let’s cook, connect, and celebrate the Mediterranean way of living—together.
With love,
GK
